CDFHS & Cornerstone Join Forces
News14th May 2026
Two North East charities have come together this spring with a shared goal – making essential household goods and quality furniture more accessible to the people who need them most.
On 13th April, CDFHS officially launched a partnership with Cornerstone Supported Housing & Counselling, the Bishop Auckland-based homeless charity.
It’s a collaboration built on mutual support and a straightforward idea: by working together, both organisations can do more for the communities they serve.
About Cornerstone
Cornerstone’s Bishop Auckland Homeless Hub is one of two CornerstoneSH hubs operating across the North East, providing direct support to individuals who are sleeping rough.
Open Monday to Friday, the hub offers a safe and welcoming space where people can access the services they need – including professional one-to-one housing support, disabled-access showers, and internet and phone access.
Crucially, Cornerstone provides a clear pathway out of homelessness. Their First Steps emergency accommodation takes individuals directly off the streets, giving them a stable foundation from which to move forward.
What the Partnership Means in Practice
From Cornerstone’s showroom in Bishop Auckland, customers will now find a range of CDFHS’s low-cost new goods available to purchase. For anyone visiting Cornerstone who needs affordable household essentials, this offers a genuinely convenient option – no need for a separate trip to our Chilton showroom.
At the same time, CDFHS is now stocking Cornerstone’s garden furniture and sheds, both in our showroom and through our online shop. Proceeds from these go directly towards funding Cornerstone’s Homelessness Hubs.
Putting Down Roots
As a gesture to mark the new relationship, Cornerstone kindly gifted CDFHS a set of wooden planters and a bench to display outside the front of our showroom.
The planters and bench will brighten up the entrance and give the space a more welcoming feel for customers and visitors.
Why Parterships Like This Matter
CDFHS has always believed that helping people furnish their homes isn’t just about furniture. It’s about dignity, stability, and belonging. Cornerstone shares that understanding – their work with homeless individuals and families in Bishop Auckland is rooted in the same values.
By pooling resources and expanding each other’s reach, both charities can support more people across a wider area of County Durham. If you’d like to visit Cornerstone’s showroom in Bishop Auckland or come and see their garden furniture and sheds in person at our Chilton site, we’d love to see you.
And if you haven’t already, keep an eye on our online shop – the Cornerstone range is now available to browse and order from home.
