Proud to work with incredible partners

We collect, repair, and redistribute items from the County Durham area that would otherwise end up in landfill. Each year, we provide thousands of pieces of furniture and household goods to individuals and families in need across the region.

Willow Burn is a small hospice and community hub, which was founded over thirty years ago by two local women who recognised a need for improved end of life care for residents of rural County Durham. Willow Burn runs a network of thriving charity shops, but space limitation mean they cannot currently accept or sell larger donations. At the same time, CDFHS operates a dedicated furniture shop, equipped with the expertise and facilities to handle and sell larger items. By joining forces, both organisations will ensure that generous donations of larger items can find a new home, raising vital funds for two much-loved local charities.

Sem’s are a female family team of two professional photographers based in the North East of England (although they work all over the UK), and they love taking photographs! Like the team at CDFHS, their passion became their career. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have Sem’s as a partner. They are responsible for producing all of the photography for the CDFHS website, which they kindly did free of charge as a donation to support our cause.

We are grateful for our partnership with Business Durham, which is the business support service for Durham County Council, helping to deliver more and better jobs and a strong competitive economy. As well as being our landlords, their team provide us with a great deal of support and insight with regards to project funding and development opportunities.
CDFHS work closely with several of specialist welfare service provider teams within Durham County Council and have an excellent history of positive social impact across the region as a result of this important collaboration.
Durham University and CDFHS are partners in the Green Move Out scheme, which aims to reduce waste and support local charities. The scheme involves students and Durham residents donating and collecting unwanted items for reuse
