We are the team who make up CDFHS

We’re a team with a shared passion and commitment to helping others and environmental responsibility.
I first started at CDFHS as a volunteer and within a couple of years I gained a full time employment. My role here is as part of the van crew, where we do deliveries and collection around County Durham and I get to meet a lot of different people. My interests are watching football, reading and watching movies.
I joined CDFHS because I wanted to learn new skills and to learn more about working environment. My hobbies are helping my dad on the farm, gaming and motorcycles.
I started at CDFHS back in March 2016 volunteering, was employed the next month and have been here for nine years. My role is training and employment coordinator, handling deliveries and collections, also telephone calls for the charity. My experience here has been brilliant and very flexible as I am a single mam of two. My work team are very productive and easy going to get along with which makes working at CDFHS all the more enjoyable.
I came to CDFHS for 2 weeks work experience as a van crew member in 2018. After my 2 weeks, I remained with the van crews for 2 years. In 2020 Lee helped me to progress my skills and I moved to the warehouse. My development continued and in 2025 I became logistics and IT coordinator. My hobbies are cars and PC gaming. I love to go out with friends and working dogs most weekends.
I started working for CDFHS in 2023. I’ve loved helping the company grow from strength to strength. At CDFHS we thrive on helping others which is what initially drew me into applying for the position. I really enjoy working here, making a difference and meeting new people daily. The roll is demanding but very fulfilling. We have an amazing team of employees and customers which makes the job worth going to. I have gained many strengths on my little journey here and look forward to seeing CDFHS future goals unfolding. When not working I spend my free time with my two children making memories!!
I joined CDFHS in 2012 as a volunteer to gain experience as a newly qualified FLT driver. After a year of volunteering as FLT driver and van crew, I was appointed as Training and Employment Coordinator and joined the permanent staff team. In 2024 I became Operations Manager, a role I really enjoy. My interests are walking my 2 cocker spaniels and watching sport, mainly football and F1.
I started at CDFHS in 2024 as a volunteer to gain experience and improve my customer service skills. In May 2025 an employed position on the van crew became available and I grabbed it with both hands, because of the team I get to work with every day and the customers I get to help. My hobbies include watching my local football team play and enjoying myself with friends.
Started at CDFHS as placement from the job centre in 2012, moved to a 2 year work program as modern apprenticeship team leader. In 2015 started upcycling and repairing damaged furniture, funded by National Lottery. Have been here since then and now do lots of local authority contract work.
Following a career which involved connecting with people worldwide, I joined CDFHS in 2010. After an initial time as a volunteer, then in a training coordination role, I eventually became CEO. I’m passionate about our commitment to helping those in need and offering job-creating volunteer opportunities. It’s so rewarding to make a real difference in our community and I’m always extremely proud of the team’s achievements. Outside of work, I enjoy adventures with my two Labradors, building model airplanes and travelling.
I started here as a volunteer in 2015 and found the work rewarding, enjoyable and fulfilling. I then was employed and started working on the vans doing deliveries. During that time I developed customer service skills and built customer relationships which I now use for the new role I started in 2025 in sales. I look forward to continue developing those skills and relationships further. Hobbies and Interests: Watching and playing football, WWE and Video games.
I had been coming to this charity for a few years as a customer buying furniture and other stuff. Over the years I met many of the team and they’ve always been helpful and friendly. In January 2025 Lee mentioned he was looking for another driver and I though this is the job for me, working with a team doing a fantastic job for a great cause. I started the next month and was made welcome from day 1. Now as part of that team, I see the hard work behind the scenes and what a great charity we are. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, walking and trips away.
I’ve been involved with CDFHS since 2023. I enjoy working here as every day is different and you get to meet and help people daily. My hobbies are walking, metalwork and building works.
One of the things I really like about working for CDFHS is that it has a really good environment, which makes it nice and relaxing. I also really like that you are made to feel really welcome and all the team are really nice as well. My hobbies are watching Sunderland home and away, I also really like sea and fresh water fishing as well as playing games on my Play Station.
I am a full-time volunteer for CDFHS. I have been volunteering for the Charity since 2020, alongside my late wife Audrey who loved working here as much as I do. The Charity has many aspects and every day is different. My day can often range from making up family starter packs, to loading vans, to delivering essential items to people in need. The job is rewarding and I get to meet a lot of interesting people.
I came to CDFHS because my college used to bring me her weekly. I found the team really friendly and asked if I could come as a volunteer. I started on 1 day a week but liked it so much, I now do 3 days a week. My hobbies and interests are all to do with music. I like going to gigs and festivals.
My name is Hugo and I’m the adopted mascot of CDFHS. I love meeting the customers and getting my daily treats from them. Meeting the kids is the best part of my day!
